About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems that power our products and services. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives and enhance user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure backend services and APIs
- Architect and implement distributed systems that handle high traffic and large-scale data processing
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver end-to-end features
- Optimize application performance, including database queries, caching strategies, and system bottlenecks
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their professional development
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system reliability
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, and recommend improvements to existing systems
- Contribute to technical documentation and architectural decision-making
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, Node.js, or Ruby
- Extensive experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra)
- Deep understanding of RESTful API design principles and microservices architecture
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Proficiency with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with message queuing systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS)
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience with GraphQL and event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with security best practices and authentication protocols (OAuth, JWT)
- Experience with performance testing and optimization tools
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments
