About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems that power our core products and services. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our users and drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure backend services and APIs
- Architect and implement distributed systems that handle high traffic volumes and large datasets
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver end-to-end features
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
- Optimize application performance, including database queries, API response times, and system resource utilization
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system reliability and uptime
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the team
- Participate in on-call rotation to support production systems
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, and recommend improvements to our technology stack
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, Node.js, or Ruby
- Extensive experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra)
- Deep understanding of RESTful API design principles and microservices architecture
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure
- Proficiency with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with message queuing systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS)
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience with performance testing and optimization
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Experience with event-driven architecture and serverless computing
- Understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements
