About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems that power our core products and services. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives and enhance user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure backend services and APIs
- Architect and implement microservices-based solutions using modern technologies and best practices
- Optimize application performance, including database queries, caching strategies, and system bottlenecks
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver end-to-end features
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with comprehensive test coverage
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the team
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner
- Contribute to technical architecture decisions and technology stack evaluations
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system reliability
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, Node.js, or Ruby
- Extensive experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra)
- Deep understanding of RESTful API design principles and microservices architecture
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Proficiency with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with message queuing systems such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or SQS
- Knowledge of GraphQL and modern API technologies
- Experience with serverless architectures and functions-as-a-service
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
- Understanding of security best practices and compliance standards
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- Contributions to open-source projects or technical blog writing
- Experience in high-traffic, distributed systems environments
