Position Overview
We are seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust server-side applications and APIs that power our products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet both technical and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and RESTful APIs
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards
- Optimize application performance, including database queries and server response times
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to implement new features
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge with team members
- Troubleshoot and debug production issues, providing timely resolutions
- Design and implement database schemas and manage data migrations
- Implement security best practices and ensure data protection compliance
- Contribute to technical documentation and system architecture decisions
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve our tech stack
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years of professional experience in backend development
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Python, Java, Node.js, Go, or Ruby
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and microservices architecture
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis)
- Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git
- Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure
- Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with message queue systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS)
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Familiarity with testing frameworks and test-driven development (TDD)
- Experience with performance monitoring and logging tools
- Understanding of agile development methodologies
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Experience with GraphQL or gRPC
