Position Overview
We are seeking a talented Backend Developer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust server-side applications and APIs that form the backbone of our platform. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet both technical and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards
- Optimize application performance, including database queries and server response times
- Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and designers to implement new features
- Implement security best practices and ensure data protection across all backend systems
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
- Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in production and development environments
- Design and maintain database schemas and ensure data integrity
- Develop and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests
- Contribute to technical documentation and architectural decisions
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in backend development
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years of professional experience in backend development
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Python, Java, Node.js, Go, or Ruby
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and microservices architecture
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis)
- Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git
- Understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, etc.)
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
- Knowledge of message queuing systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience with GraphQL APIs
- Understanding of caching strategies and implementation
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
